Sunflowers are shedding light this week...

This marks the first week of full-on

harvest of our sunflowers. Sunflowers are our specialty and what I first started out growing. I started growing them several years ago and you know what they say: "the rest is history". We started out growing yellow sunflowers, but I knew there were so many different types and colors out there. I then added a double brown-orange type call "the Joker" and the always popular chocolate variety, 'Moulin Rouge' and just kept adding to the list of different sunflowers we grow.

The Sweet Peas and Dahlias are coming!

This week we planted our first crop of Dahlias! We will have 3 colors to choose from: deep purple, maroon, and orange tipped with white. I am very excited about this addition. We also planted and staked the sweet peas! I love this old-fashioned flower as it reminds me of my Great grandmother (MomMom Halter to my family), who loved old-time flowers as I hope you do, too. I also noticed the Eremurus budding up and the Dutch Iris will be cracking color this week. Our Achillea 'Pomegranate' has awesome green buds just waiting to show color in the next couple of weeks.
